Come this Thursday 27th of September to the 7th of October 2012 ,Liberia Female football team will be in action in the maiden edition of the West Africa Football Union (WAFU) “B” Female Cup in the Ivorian capital Abidjan .
The week-long tournament will bring together a total of 6 West African Countries female teams in both WAFU “A” and “B”, to compete in a two groups of three teams. Participating countries are host Ivory Coast, Ghana, Benin, Senegal , Togo and Liberia .This according to the football house is Liberia’s female team probable return to full international action by this torunament which will see many African media broadcasting it .
Liberia, is a member of WAFU “A”, and was invited through WAFU “A” General Secretary Aka Malan to participate in this maiden edition of what many soccer pundits see it as a tournament that has come to stay , the Liberia delegation is expected to leave with a total of 18 players and 7 officials for the competition .
Meanwhile the Liberia Female team has been training for over a mouth along with the senor male side as part of the LFA’s program to revitalize female football in the country.The Liberian team is headed by Kelvin Sebwe as head coach, assisted by former female football star Cecelia “double trouble” Taylor. The players were recruited from the leading female teams in the current LFA national female league.
